- Prepare and post daily and monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and investment activity.
- Perform monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) regulations.
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports such as the 5300 Call Report.
- Monitor and record investment activity, loan participation, and secondary market transactions.
- Reconcile fixed asset, and prepaid subledgers to the general ledger monthly.
- Assist with budget preparation, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting financial operations.
- Participate in projects and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
- Advocate and demonstrate company brand
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience; financial institution or credit union experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with NCUA regulations a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems; experience with Symitar, Fiserv, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Member-service orientation and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to function as a contributing member of the credit union.
- Friendly, approachable, decisive with a strong display of leadership qualities and willingness to be collaborative.
